Club History : This course, designed by William Mitchell and inaugurated in 1974, became world -famous after hosting the Portuguese Open on seven occasions

Club Details : The Quinta do Lago course offered four nine hole loops with sufficient flexibility to allow four eighteen hole combinations (all Par 72). A recent transformation divided these four loops into two different courses. But Quinta do Lago - built over loops B and C - is still the most famous. The course allows the player to approach greens in very different ways. The most famous hole is number 15, a memorable Par 3 requiring a 200 metres shot right over a lake from the championship tee. The course favours the long hitter, but requires the player to pick a particular route to score well. Although both anti-clockwise loops, the first nine suggests a draw, whilst the second favours a fade from the tee. Holes 3, 15 and 17, feature lake that must be negotiated. Holes 8,10,15 and 18, are the most testing for the scratch player while Holes 2,3,5,12, 13 and 17, offer the best possibilities of birdies. An enjoyable experience for players of all standards. Quinta do Lago is part of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, an eco-system that hosts a great variety of birds during winter
